Lara McDonnell is Laban Centre trained and has a BA in Biology/Dance from SUNY Buffalo. Her West African training includes Lamine Thiam, Marie Basse-Wiles, Babacar M’baye, Fumilayo Chesney, Titos Sompa, Chuck Davis and many others.

She will teach PRINCIPLES OF WEST AFRICAN DANCE.
Passages and gestures will be drawn from Congolese, djimbe, sabar, and Afro-Carribean dances to provide practice in isolations and coordination throughout the body. The community-oriented structure builds tremendous energy and provides a safe environment in which to experiment and learn. The class is open to all levels and will cater individually to each dancer’s abilities.

Wear comfortable clothes; no jeans or shoes.
Women & girls may wear a skirt or lapa over their leggings/shorts. Supportive top suggested.
The space is air-conditioned and has a hard matted floor.
